Employee Attributes

Employee attributes
Example
Why employer’s value it
Specific attributes

1.       Specific to the job
  Technical knowledge
Employers value technical knowledge because if you don’t have the knowledge about a piece of software that you have to use regularly then there are things that could make your job easier. Another reason is that if you apply for a job with 0 GCSE’s and you know everything about everything you’re going to be doing then you’re more likely to get the job than someone with 10 GCSE’s that knows nothing about what they’re doing. while working with rainbow light you need to have the knowledge and understanding to be abke to work with the people within the organsiation for example being able to help someone who have bad sight.
 Health and safety
This is a major priority in any working environment because you need to make sure that the workplace is safe for everyone not just yourself. If you do not know anything about health and safety then you are a high risk to the company that employ you because if you don’t have a basic knowledge of it then you could end up costing the company a lot of money and you could lose your job. for example when working with rainbow light you need to work with clients under the health and safety law and make sure you are compying to it

General attributes

1.       General (soft skill)
 Organisational Skills
organisation is the biggest factor in working in a company because if your unorganised then nothing will ever get done because you might have lost a sheet of paper that you might need and now something important has come up and that sheet of paper is needed you could lose your job of be suspended. for rainbow light they would need to organise excercises in different categories for the partially blind on computers that best helps them.
 Time Management
time management is a critical part of being an employee because no-one wants to take on someone that will turn up late every morning or someone that can’t get a piece of work done by when they said they could. Once again you could either receive a word from your boss if you’re not good at managing your time, but you could also possibly lose your job. when wokring with rainbow light you need to ensure that you always arrive on time becase if you arrive late or you are not there someone with blindness coud get hurt and you would be in big trouble.
  Personal attitudes

       1.
 Tolerance
Tolerance can and can’t be a major factor in your job for instance if you’re working at a call centre then you will have to have a high level of tolerance because you can get some incredibly rude people on the phone to you so you have to tolerate them and maintain a professional attitude. you have to show tolerance within rainbow light due to having to help clients as some may give up or lose patience but you have to stand by them and be tolerant towards them to help them reach their goal
       2.
 Problem Solving
problem solving is the most important attitude for an IT technician because that’s all that you do is diagnose why the computer isn’t working properly. In some jobs it doesn’t matter if you are a good problem solver.

Learning Styles

Learning Styles

From the quiz I took on learning styles i found out that my learning stlyes were visual, social and aural to determine this I used the website http://www.learning-styles-online.com/inventory/questions.php?cookieset=y on this page i will be explaining what these learning stlyes are and how i adapt to them.

Visual

The term "visual learning" means that You’d rather use pictures, images and spatial understanding. This type of learning style deals with shapes, patterns designs etc. It is about us visualizing, dreaming and imagining. The phrases used to represent visual learning are: 'Lets look at it differently', 'I cant quite picture it', 'I never forget a face' and see how this works for you. while learning 'visually' you can use many techniques such as:

·         Mind maps
·         Images.
·         Colour.
·         Pictures.
·         Drawing.
·         Painting.
·         Collage.
·         Video.

I find that visual learning is definately right for me as i am better learning with using things like pictures, mindmaps and video. when i try to read or study pages for hours on end i lose concentration and focus and stop and puts me off learning or trying to study for anything else with visual learning it is alot more interesting and i personally think you learn things alot quicker with the methods of learning visually.

Social

The term "Social learning" means that You prefer to learn in a group or with others. You’re a good communicator, people like to go to you for advice, you’re a good listener, you enjoy to stay behind after events to talk to people, you enjoy working with a group and like to sort problems out working in a group. The phrases used to represent social learning are:  'Let’s work together on this', ' We can work this out' ,'Help me understand this' and 'Let’s explore our options'. While learning 'socially' you can use many techniques such as:

· Share your thoughts with others.
 · Work on some of your associations and visualizations with others.

Aural

The term "Aural learning" means that You have a big interest in music and you like to work with it. You are good at identifying music; you sing or even play a musical instrument. You can catch on to music playing in the background of things. You have a habit of humming to a song. The phrases used to represent Aural learning are: 'That rings a bell, 'that sounds about right', 'thats music to my ears' and 'tune in to what im saying'. While learning 'Aurally' you can use many techniques such as:

·    Sound.
·    Music.
·  Recordings

·   Rhyme.

I feel that aural learning is one of the right techniques to describe my learning, I cannot learn or work in complete silence i would rather have some sort of sound or music in the backfround or when i am learning have a recording of the work that i have to learn and listen to it over and over again.
